Yasuko Azuma was born in Japan and moved to New York in 1994 to pursue her dreams of studying jewelry fabrication and design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Her signature style is hand carved and hand finished with her pierced work. With nostalgia for her childhood, she launched her first full scale collection in 2003, interpreting the botanicals, rocks, hanging lanterns, and billowing branches she remembered from her grandmother’s garden in Japan into beautiful pieces of jewelry.
Azuma’s inspiration also comes from her love of fabrics, particularly vintage Kimono patterns; her affinity for the old world charm of fans and sliding doors in old homes in Japan; and the refined movement she strived for during her years as a dancer.
The essence of her designs shows through in their subtly. The Yasuko Azuma collection attracts a broad range of women without ever being overly designed. “The pieces never outshine my customers but rather enhance their diverse and inherent beauty.”
We love earring clusters!
