Wing Yau is a New York-based designer born in the Pacific Northwest. Hailing from a background in sculpture at Rhode Island School of Design and a childhood in Peru and Papua New Guinea, Wing's interest lay within both art and indigenous crafts. Following the belief that an art object resonates with the voice of its artist, Wing fell into making jewelry - attracted to the inherent life that heirlooms carry forever. After creating a series of necklaces based on textile sculptures, she developed WWAKE in 2012 with the intention of merging art with the intimacy of jewelry.
Inspired by the tradition of art breaking with convention, WWAKE offers new perspectives on heirloom jewelry, distinguished by minimal forms and marked by meaningful detail, signature contour shapes, unexpectedly light stone arrangements, and other-worldly stones. All WWAKE jewelry is crafted in New York with the finest quality materials and ethically sourced stones.
In 2014, WWAKE was awarded the Racked Young Guns Award and was chosen to participate in the Design Entrepreneurs New York City class of 2014.
