Jones had a successful law practice with over two decades of experience when she and a friend decided to take metal smithing classes over the course of several years. As soon as she started making pieces, they sold literally off of her neck. Jones decided to stop selling what she was making and create a complete collection she could approach a retailer with to decide if a new business was in order. The high end boutique she approached took the entire collection into their inventory and suddenly, a new venture was born.
Originally, Jones focused on one of a kind of pieces using antique elements and findings as components in her designs. In 2015 she introduced the Lee Jones fine jewelry collection, working primarily in 14k gold, diamonds and semi-precious stones. Her latest designs incorporate design elements in both the front and the back of the piece, so there is a little sparkle of gold and/or diamonds everywhere. Perhaps it is because this wife, mother, former attorney and designer understands first hand the needs of busy women. “It is important to me that every piece in the collection is wearable for women on the go and that my customers make an appropriate entrance and an exit.” In 2017 Lee was the recipient of the JCK Tuscon Design Challenge Award for a piece from her Fairy Dust collection.
